1.12.18 – Minimum Minutes: How Often Do You Need to Exercise Daily?
The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week or 150 minutes of moderate activity per week – or a combination of the two. This breaks out to approximately 11-22 minutes per day, 7 days a week. Or, to keep it easy – 15-30 minutes per day, 5 days a week.
As a general goal, a healthy adult should aim for that 30 minutes every day to stay healthy. For weight loss, you’ll need to ramp up that intensity and time for a total of 60 minutes daily.
Cutting down on sitting time is important too. The more hours you spend with your butt in the chair (or on the sofa, or in bed, streaming Netflix…), the higher your risk of metabolic problems – EVEN IF you achieve the minimum recommended amount of daily activity.
Brief bouts of activity offer big benefits – even as short as one-minute bursts. The goal is to make regular physical activity a part of your lifestyle. Flashfit is an effortless way to integrate movement into your day.
